The production focuses on the grotesque yet touching character of Platée, a naïve marsh nymph who becomes the victim of a cruel divine prank, exposing the vanity and hypocrisy of the Olympian gods. With crisp direction for the screen, dynamic camera work and refined audio engineering, this release allows viewers to appreciate both the musical sophistication and the theatrical wit of Rameau's score.
